Old Man Winter Is Here..

The sounds of snowblowers are heard throughout the neighborhood, the snow removal guys are out in full force, and the snow didn't stop falling until 3 this afternoon!

Definitely time to layer up, play in the snow, and of course shovel a little too!

Being a Part of the Community...

The last week has brought me some new opportunities that I look forward to being a part of.

The first opportunity that came knocking on my door is the Online Chair for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Truckee Tahoe!!! I am really looking forward to helping and gettting to know my community up close and personal!

Then a few days later I received an email about the Online Communications board position for the Reno Tahoe American Marketing Association!!!

I am finally finding ways to give back to my community and it feels great!

Reno Collective...

We found a great new community in Reno! It's the Reno Collective! It's a great place to collaborate, learn, and be a part of the technical community in Reno!

We plan on spending as much time there as we can!

Summer...

Our summer was fabulous! We went swimming, hiking, concerts, motorcycle rides, Truckee Thursdays, canoing, Beer Fests, rafting, Artown, and that's all I can remember for now!

We really know how to pack it in and we can't wait for next summer!

Reno is Artown

You wouldn't think of art and community when you think of Reno, NV but I've go news for you it does exist and there is plenty of it!

During the month of July there are events celebrating the arts all over the city of Reno! It's a great event and wonderful way to enjoy a warm summer evening!

I have been to a concert in the park and a movie in the park that were both a lot of fun!

There are many exhibits and performances that you can enjoy! So check out the Artown web site and see what's going on before it ends!

Check Out Napa Sonoma Grocery Co.

I have been recently introduced to the Napa Sonoma Grocery Company in Reno, NV and it is wonderful! A couple of months back my friend Rhonda met me for lunch there and I have been back several times since!

It's very inviting, the food is great, and staff is very friendly and helpful!
Check out the reviews on yelp.com!

Here's a map! Check it out sometime you won't regret it!

Reno is More Than You Think...

I commute to Reno, NV Monday - Friday. I cross over the Nevada border and look down on the city of Reno with all of it's casinos and tall downtown buildings. It is quite the site day or night!

What you don't know about Reno is that there is living and breathing community that is not a part of the casinos or the gambling! I know what you are thinking... "No Way!" but it's true.

There are fabulous restaurants, coffee shops, art, community activities, and a lot of personality!

I am finally getting around to sharing what I've learned in this past year and hope you can appreciate the community of Reno for more than just gambling!

Random....

thoughts for the week:

  • Sometimes life turns out better than you expect
  • Always expect the unexpected
  • Is on-line social networking really networking?
  • There's an adventure around every corner
  • The world is enormous and can make you feel quite insignificant
  • Laughing is a good thing
  • Best friends are always there for you
  • Life sometimes feels like Lucy from the "Peanuts" pulling the football right out from under you
  • Technology is great but can also be a lot of work
  • Always do your best no matter what
  • Live more, Love more, and Laugh more
  • Make time to reach out to others
  • Be thankful for what you have
  • Learn to listen, REALLY listen
  • Try new things

It's been....

A wild and crazy ride! I haven't posted in a long time and I've finally gotten off my lazy butt and here I am!

We moved into our house in October, survived escrow in November and are now officially home owners!

The winter has been long, cold, beautiful and a challenge to live in. I have learned how to use the snow blower but am most thankful for my in-laws giving us the BEST house warming gift a new home owner in the snow could use a snow removal service!!! I am grateful every time Terrell pulls up into our driveway and gives us back the gift of time and some freedom to get out of the house! HALLELUJAH!!!

We have discovered snow shoeing and I am looking forward to learning how to down hill ski and cross country ski!

Buddy our Labrador pup loves his new home in the Tahoe area and has become quite the snow ball catcher and snow blower opponent. Just check out this video!

It's a wild ride we are on but it is always exciting!
